And now a break from our regular blog schedule. I
wanted to take a moment at talk about some NFL football. This is one of
the main sports I follow along with playing it here at Dixie. I am a
very passionate NFL fan and love all aspects
of the game and what is provided to us as fans. I also want to thank
the league for focusing more and more on player safety and player
health. This is always something that I take to heart since this is a
game I love. I
want to be safe while playing and the NFL is making
to ensure their own players safety, the advancements in rules and safety
measures makes an impact on players of all skill levels and ages.
We constantly hear fans complaining that the
hits are getting softer and soon players won’t be able to even hit each
other; but changes need to happen. My only concern is restricting
hitting high on the players will only allow lower hits
near the knees. And if a knee is injured, it can be a career ending
incident. Cut blocks by linemen need to be looked at next, there have
been many players seasons that have been ended in just 4 weeks of the
new NFL season from linemen going low and cutting
the legs out from under opposing players. I believe the NFL needs to
adjust their rules, and allow for higher hits but not with the crowns of
their helmets; and keep the lower hits down.
I love the sport of football, it is my passion;
but I also want to keep playing as long as I can. With the advancements being made I know that I will be able to keep playing as long as possible.
